The Iron Gym total upper body workout bar comes in at a 4.1 rating with over 700 reviews. While this is an inexpensive and simple piece of equipment with many happy users, it was not without some users reporting problems.

Some people found they had missing pieces, such as a lock washer and another person found one of the washers came apart in their hands when they were trying to assemble it.

Most reported the unit to be very sturdy to use, and while it didn’t really mark the doorway, it was inclined to leave some black marks with movement during use.  This was solved by placing some fabric like a small hand towel between the unit and the door frame.

One person reported that if you do not use it as directed it can come away from the door frame and you can take a tumble, so it is important to ensure it is fitted correctly, and used as directed.

The likelihood of damaging door posts is slim; however, it is obviously dependent on how well they have been built.  It should also be noted that the unit is not adjustable, so if you have wider or narrower doorways then the workout bar may fit properly and may not work as it is supposed to.

One other thing to keep in mind is that it is likely not so effective for taller people who might have issues getting high enough to lift their feet from the floor.

There was also the issue with ‘fake’ products which were not as good in quality as the genuine unit. Given the many happy customers it makes a person wonder if the poor ‘quality’ issues were alslo related to non-genuine items rather than the real product.

Many customers reported just how easy it was to install and to use. They found that being able to use it both on the floor as well as hanging was a great feature.
